I am a linguist, assistant director of ILETC (Institute for Language Education in Transcultural Context) at the CUNY Graduate Center, and learning experience designer at the BMCC OpenLab.

I earned my PhD in linguistics at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York in 2018, and I graduated summa cum laude from SUNY New Paltz with a BA in French, where I was honored with a 40 under Forty alumni award in 2019.

I am also a contributing author for Grammar Girl, and I freelance as a linguist and academic copy editor.

From 2016-2018, I completed a two-year position as program coordinator for the NSF-funded REU site Intersection of Linguistics, Language, and Culture. Previously, I served as a visiting professor of linguistics at Brooklyn College, and before that, I was a WordPress support/digital pedagogy fellow for the OpenLab at the New York City College of Technology. I was also a writing fellow at Bronx Community College, after holding a full-time faculty position in the Humanities department at LaGuardia College, where I taught courses in the Communication Studies concentration.

Before that, I was a linguistics index editor for the International Bibliography of the Modern Language Association. While holding this position, I completed a five-year Enhanced Chancellor’s Doctoral Fellowship in linguistics at the Graduate Center, where I worked on  sociolinguistics, semantics, and first language acquisition. I completed my fellowship program with a Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) fellowship at the New York City College of Technology. Prior to that, I was a Graduate Teaching Fellow in the Hunter College Department of English, where I taught an introductory linguistics course called Structure of Modern English, along with English as a Second Language, and Expository Writing. I was also lab manager and research assistant at the Language Acquisition Research Center in the Department of Psychology during my tenure at Hunter. Finally, I have years of experience as a part-time TOEIC rater for ETS.

I have served as a volunteer by supporting women and girls at WoLF and WHRC; helping U.S. residents with the citizenship application process at CUNY Citizenship Now; walking surplus restaurant food to homeless shelters with Rescuing Leftover Cuisine; and sending free books to the incarcerated across the country.
